Morgan-Williams founded

A specialty food distributor since 2001, Morgan-Williams International Inc. began importing the most recognizable British grocery brands. Canada is home to the third largest population of British citizens abroad. Plus, over 10 million Canadians claim shared British ancestry. Together, they continue to contribute to the demand of British grocery products in the Canadian retail market.

New ownership

In 2004, Morgan-Williams International Inc. was purchased by current president/chairman, Jim Picard under the Picard Group of Companies. This group holds private ownership of a range of grocery and confectionery wholesale distribution and retail companies.

Acquisition of Carioca’s Import & Export

Founded in 2004, Carioca’s began importing the best of Brazilian confectionery and groceries into the Canadian market. Since then, we’ve expanded deeper into South America’s food culture to bring expatriates a taste of home while introducing the broader Canadian population to internationally recognized brands that represent traditional and modern dishes of the continent’s deep connection to its food resources.

Acquisition of Gourmet Food Division

Buckstone Inc has since grown from North Bay, Ontario’s first street vendors into a well-known wholesale distribution business of artisan home and giftware from around the world. In 2019, Morgan-Williams acquired their gourmet food division with national distribution of specialty sauces and food from across the world.

Acquisition of Holland Wholesale

Holland Wholesale began in 2013 with a simple conversation over a cup of coffee in the Netherlands. Fast forward to 2017, and Canadian Richard Overbeek and his Dutch co-founders Meindert and Kees Post were ready to launch with a catalogue of more than 2,000 products imported directly from the Netherlands.

Acquisition of Glee Gum

Jim Picard and John Kapralos of Morgan Williams International created Mazee LLC in NJ and acquired a 20-year-old U.S. brand called Glee Gum. The purchase provides “new resources and capabilities to continue driving value including, immediate route to market for the Canadian consumers looking for Glee, and future innovation to enhance the category and a larger team.”
